Bozos

Bozo was conceived as a site specific installation for part of the summer Department of Cultural Affairs citywide celebration known as "Chicago at Play.". The work entailed purchasing three dozen inflatable bozo punching bags and putting them in the window of the Chicago Department of Tourism. Early on it was discovered that the installation was an unbelievable temptation for young children who took to attacking the clowns (and frankly who can blame them). I spent the next few weeks making periodic trips to the office to replace clowns that had burst. I'm only sorry that I didn't photography my Suburu Forester filled with inflated clowns.

Many thanks for Elizabeth (Salbaugh) Rolewicz for her wonderful photograph that ended up in the Chicago Reader.
