For the Delight of Uncle Mao handmade collage
Every April Vicky’s Uncle Mao came to Milwaukee to stay with her family. I never understood why the family made such a big production of his visits. He was friendly enough...I guess. Vicky’s father, Ling Shu went all out for the old man. I guess he was a big influence on his life. I think I remember overhearing the parents saying something about him being in the chair business. Even as an eight-year-old, I knew that it was no mean feat finding a flock or herd or whatever it is you call a bunch of emus just so the neighborhood kids could ride around on them. Her Uncle Mao delighted in watching us riding around the parking lot of the Pabst brewery. I admit that it was a lot of fun, but it did seem a bit over the top, especially for an old man. I mean it’s not like he was the King of China or something.
