I Like Ike...but Not Very Often- Digital Collage 4" x 4"

Although our daughter, Julie was good enough for the Eisenhowers, apparently Pat and I were persona non grata. This was certainly nothing new for me, being a poor farm kid from California, but Pat took it hard, especially during those weekend get togethers when Mamie insisted on the entire family sporting loveable animal masks. Ike claimed it was nothing personal, just that I frightened the girls. Frankly, I think he caught a whiff of my own ambition and wanted to humiliate me in submission. So, I played the jocular fool. Still, I think he broached the bounds of good taste when he wryly asked Mamie if perhaps she didn't have a fox mask for me. That smirk of her's said more than any withering comment from the Old Man.
